new nissan serena premium highwaystar 2022

2022 Nissan Serena S-Hybrid facelift  in Malaysia – now with AEB, priced from RM150k

Nearly three years after the facelifted Nissan Serena went on sale in Japan, the car has finally landed in Malaysia. The refreshed MPV was launched in Mid Valley Megamall this morning, bringing some welcome updates to the C27 – particularly on the safety side.

Those improvements come with a sizeable hike in the prices, although they now include the sales and service tax (SST). As before, the Serena is available in two variants, both with the mild S-Hybrid powertrain – the Highway Star retails at RM149,888 on-the-road without insurance, while the Premium Highway Star with some additional accessories goes for RM162,888.

Compared to the previous model before the SST exemption, the new Serena is RM17,000 more expensive in Highway Star form and RM18,000 more as the Premium Highway Star (the latter is against the old two-tone package variant, which now comes standard). A five-year, unlimited-mileage warranty is included with the purchase, with early bird customers also getting five times free parts and labour for every alternate service.

No matter which version you go for, you get an unchanged MR20DD 2.0 litre direct-injected four-cylinder petrol engine, producing 150 PS at 6,000 rpm and 200 Nm of torque at 4,400 rpm. It’s mated to an Xtronic CVT and a 1.8 kW (2.6 PS) electric motor that provides 48 Nm of accelerative boost when needed, with drive sent to the front wheels. Combined fuel consumption is rated 14.2 km per litre on the NEDC cycle.

The exterior redesign is dominated by a distinctive full-height V-motion grille that stretches all the way down to the centre air intake – replete with chrome “dashes” that Nissan claims gives the car a jewel-like look. Lower down, the L-shaped inserts on the corners of the front bumper are larger and more aggressive, and these are repeated at the rear of the car.

The lamp units have also been revised – the split headlights come with a chrome instead of body-coloured strip, flowing neatly into the massive grille. They are also now bi-LED with new reflector and projector units, and they come with “eyebrow” LED positioning lights. Completing the look are unique LED tail lights (the brake lights are also now LED) that curve outwards, giving the rear end a wider look.

As before, the Serena comes with plain silver 15-inch alloy wheels as standard, with the Premium Highway Star gaining the same 16-inch rollers, now finished in black. The higher-spec model also gets a black roof as standard – it was optional before, and the Cashmere Gold paint was paired with a brown roof instead. Speaking of which, the colour options have shrunk to just four and include Brilliant White, Diamond Black, Tungsten Silver and Radiant Red, the last of which is exclusive to the Premium Highway Star.

Inside, revisions are limited to minor trim changes and new graphics for the seven-inch colour instrument display in the centre, although the segmented LED speedometer remains in front of the driver. The seven seats are still upholstered in black fabric as standard, but the Premium Highway Star gains quilted Nappa leather for the first time, available in either black or brown.

Elsewhere, the 6.75-inch infotainment touchscreen has been bumped up to a nine-inch unit on the Premium Highway Star, still with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity. That variant’s rear roof-mounted monitor has also grown in size from 10.1 inches to 11.6 inches.

Passengers continue to sit in sliding captain’s chairs on the second row and a three-abreast third-row bench (resulting in a 2-2-3 seating configuration) that tips up to fold; they plug into no fewer than seven USB ports (three in front). You also still get dual-zone automatic climate control – one zone for the front, the other for the second and third rows, the latter adjustable via the same ceiling-mounted control panel.

The rest of the standard equipment is mostly identical and includes keyless entry, push-button start, manually-adjustable Zero Gravity front and second-row seats, a 360-degree camera system with Moving Object Detection (MOD), six-speakers, hands-free power-sliding doors on either side and a manual tailgate with a separately-opening rear windscreen section. Auto-folding door mirrors have been added to the list.

Step up to the Premium Highway Star and you’ll continue to gain door visors, LED interior lighting and a “Tech On” mat for the second-row folding tray tables, along with new additions such as V-Kool window tint and front and rear dash cams. All the top spec’s extras are optional on the Highway Star except for the black roof, wheels, head unit and leather upholstery.

The aforementioned big step up in safety is the inclusion of driver assistance systems like autonomous emergency braking, lane departure warning, blind spot monitoring, rear cross traffic alert and a driver attention warning on all models. Malaysia remains one step behind Japan, losing out on the latter’s optional ProPilot semi-autonomous driving function – but hey, progress is still progress. Six airbags, stability control and second-row ISOFIX child seat anchors are still standard fitment.

The facelifted Nissan Serena S-Hybrid can be had with interest rates starting from 1.99% per annum with Edaran Tan Chong Motor’s (ETCM) Green Financing. Buyers can also place a booking online on the company’s Lazada store for a lower fee.

NEW SERENA HIGHWAYSTAR 2018

2018 Nissan Serena S-Hybrid full specs – Highway Star and Premium Highway Star, from under RM140k est

Add caption
Edaran Tan Chong Motor (ETCM) has released full details of the new Nissan Serena S-Hybrid, which is already open for booking ahead of an expected May launch. The seven-seater MPV will be available in Highway Star and Premium Highway Star variants, expected to be priced under RM140,000 and under RM155,000 respectively.
The MR20DD 2.0 litre direct-injected four-cylinder petrol engine can again be found under the bonnet, now making slightly more power at 150 PS at 6,000 rpm and 200 Nm at 4,400 rpm. It’s fitted with a new dual-arm tensioner to reduce tension on the arm belt and improve fuel efficiency, and is mated to an Xtronic CVT.
Working alongside it is a 2.6 PS/48 Nm ECO electric motor that replaces the starter motor, controls the Idling Stop System and and energy regeneration. The motor also offers acceleration assistance to the MPV in the form of torque assist, providing a 50 Nm boost for up to one second when moving away from a standstill. As for fuel consumption, Nissan claims the Serena is good for 14.2 kilometres per litre on the European NEDC cycle.
On the outside, the Serena features a more distinctive design compared to its predecessor, with dual-tier headlights, a more expressive V-motion grille and a character line that sweeps downwards, contrasted by the upswept window line. Vertical tail lights feature as before, while blacked-out A- and D-pillars provide a floating roof that is emphasised by the Premium Highway Star’s two-tone colour scheme.
The interior is more modern with a stitched soft-touch dashboard, a flat-bottomed steering wheel and a floating centre console. The larger digital instrument cluster features a seven-inch multi-info display that shows the rev counter and the around view monitor with Intelligent Moving Object Detection (i-MOD).
Unlike the previous eight-seater Serena, the new model has seven seats with second-row captain’s chairs with armrests. This means that the outgoing model’s second-row centre seat, which could be folded and slid forwards to double as a storage console in front, is missing here.
On the plus side, the first- and second-row seats feature Zero Gravity technology for improved comfort, and there are also seven USB ports all around the car – including two each for the second and third rows. Access is improved though a new hands-free opening function for the twin power-sliding doors, operated using a kicking motion under the doors. A split-opening tailgate provides easier access to the boot in tight spaces.
Standard kit includes LED headlights, front and rear fog lights, 15-inch alloy wheels, keyless entry, push-button start, single-zone auto climate control, with rear air-con controls and a Clarion head unit with a 6.75-inch touchscreen and Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility.
The Premium Highway Star variant adds 16-inch alloys, door visors, combination leather upholstery in either black or two-tone Truffle Brown and Chestnut, a 10.1-inch roof-mounted LCD rear display, a Tech-On tray mat on the second-row picnic table for holding tablets or other devices, an LED interior room light, V-Kool 4Mil security film tinting and Three-Bond Ultra Glass body coating.
Safety-wise, all models now come with six airbags, joining the ABS with EBD and brake assist and stability control that was already offered previously.
The new Serena will be offered in Brilliant White, Tungsten Silver, Diamond Black and Cashmere Gold colours. The Premium Highway Star adds three two-tone exterior colour schemes, including Cashmere Gold with an Imperial Umber roof as well as Tungsten Silver and Brilliant White with a Diamond Black roof. A five-year, unlimited-mileage warranty and a three-year/60,000 free service package is included.

NISSAN SAFETY

VIDEO: Nissan Tsuru crash test against Versa/Almera – see how an old car compares to a modern one

Last week, we reported on the Nissan Tsuru, better known to you and me as the third-generation B13 Sentra, which will finally be discontinued next year after 25 years on the market in Mexico. The carmaker has been under pressure by Global NCAP, which has been campaigning to get the car – which has scored zero stars in Latin NCAP crash testing three years ago – removed from sale.
Now, the Insurance Institute of Highway Safety (IIHS) in the United States has released a video of crash test organised in conjunction with Global NCAP, which pitted a 2015 model year Tsuru against the latest 2016 Nissan Versa sedan – the latter is essentially the US-market version of our Almera, replete with six airbags and stability control.
The Versa isn’t even the safest car tested by IIHS; although it offered good protection in most of its tests, it received a “Poor” rating in the institute’s new small-overlap crash test, and doesn’t come with autonomous emergency braking. Yet, the video shows a stark difference in safety between a modern sedan – even a humdrum one like this – and its spiritual predecessor that was last sold in the US in 1994.
The crash test put the cars in a moderate-overlap head-to-head collision, both travelling at 40 mph (64 km/h) – resulting in a combined closing speed of 80 mph (129 km/h). While it’s undoubtedly a big impact for both these cars, the driver in the Versa would’ve been a lot better off – the car’s structure held up, and the front and curtain airbags prevented the dummy’s head from hitting any of the hard surfaces.
By contrast, the Tsuru was practically decimated by the Versa, the occupant compartment crumpling up, to pardon the rather clichéd term, like an accordion. The dashboard and steering column were pushed very far back, and with no airbags to speak of, the dummy smacked its head first on the steering wheel, then the A-pillar. Its legs would have likely been crushed, too.

Global NCAP said that a driver in the Tsuru would have had a high probability of suffering life-threatening injuries. It added that it is likely that such a crash in real world conditions would have been fatal because there were no airbags in the Tsuru and the main structures all failed, fatally compromising the survival space.
“Our first ever car-to-car test clearly shows the importance of minimum crash test regulations. Mexico doesn’t yet apply them and the US has had them for decades. The lack of standards can result in the sale of unsafe cars like the Nissan Tsuru,” Global NCAP secretary-general David Ward said.
In April this year, Latin NCAP published a report showing that the Tsuru had been involved in more than 4,000 deaths on Mexico’s roads between 2007 and 2012.
Over here, ASEAN NCAP has performed a crash test on the original Proton Saga, with similarly devastating results. You can watch the video of it below, and compare it to the video of the crash test of the latest 2016 Proton Saga below that.

NISSAN X-TRAIL 2018

2017 Nissan X-Trail facelift makes European debut

The Nissan X-Trail facelift has been revealed for the European market. We’ve seen it before as the US-market Nissan Rogue facelift – unveiled in September 2016 – but this would be the debut for the refreshed X-Trail-badged car. The car will go on sale from August.
It’s quite a distinct facelift, led by a wider and bolder V-motion grille and a new bumper design. The headlamp clusters have been redesigned and feature a new version of the SUV’s boomerang LED daytime running lights. There is greater design differentiation between the halogen headlamps and full LEDs, which feature Adaptive Front Lighting System (AFS) for the first time. The fog lamps are now rectangular instead of circular.
At the rear, the bumper has been redesigned for a more robust look, with new chrome detailing. The light signature has been upgraded to full LEDs. There are also new 17 and 18-inch wheel designs plus a chrome side moulding across the base of the two doors on top variants. The four new exterior paint colours are Orange Pearl, Red Pearl, Blue Pearl Metallic and Dark Brown Pearl.

Inside, you’ll find a new D-shaped steering wheel, which allows easier entry/exit for the driver and offers an improved view of the instruments. The wheel also features new four-way controllers for reduced ‘eyes off the road’ time, and is available with integrated heating for the first time.
Nissan says that higher quality materials have been used across the cabin, such as the gloss black trim on the air vents. Heated seats are available in both the front and rear for the first time, while a new tan/black two-tone leather interior is an optional extra. The top Tekna grade now comes with an eight-speaker Bose Premium audio system, and the navigation interface has been updated. The new ‘shark fin’ antenna improves reception and looks.
Thanks to revised interior packaging, the boot is now larger than before, with VDA capacity rising from 550 litres to 565 litres on the five-seat version. Total space with all seats folded rises to 1,996 litres. Every X-Trail boot (kick to open is available) comes with Nissan’s Luggage Board System, which allows for shelves and dividers to be adjusted in nine formations. There’s also a hidden compartment for valuables.

On the tech front, the latest X-Trail will be available with ProPilot autonomous drive technology in 2018. The system will control the steering, acceleration and braking in a single lane on highways during heavy traffic congestion and high-speed cruising.
It’s one of a range of Nissan Intelligent Mobility systems which are new to the X-Trail. Others include Intelligent Emergency Braking with Pedestrian Recognition and Rear Cross Traffic Alert.
The European X-Trail’s range of three engines remains, including the 177 PS 2.0 litre diesel launched this year. The other two are a 130 PS 1.6 litre diesel and a 163 PS 1.6 litre turbo petrol, and gearbox options are a CVT automatic and a six-speed manual. Customers can also choose between 2WD and 4WD and five or seven seats.

NP300 NISSAN NAVARA BLACK ADDITION

Nissan Navara Black Series launched, from RM109k

Edaran Tan Chong Motor (ETCM) has launched the new Nissan Navara Black Series, which adds on various aesthetic enhancements befitting of its name. Customers will be able to specify the Black Series for the VL, V and SE variants (automatic only), where all components come factory fitted.
The list of blacked-out components includes a matte front grille, headlight garnish, matte fog lamp surrounds, side mirror caps, front and rear overfenders, as well as a sport bar for the cargo bed. Meanwhile, the cabin receives combination black leather seats.
Prices start at RM108,800 (on-the-road without insurance) for the Black Series in SE guise, while it is RM115,800 for the V, and RM124,800 for the VL. These figures represent a RM4000-5000 increase from a regular Navara without the Black Series kit.
“Blacked-out componentry is the new trend and it certainly makes the new Nissan Navara Black Series standout. With its aggressive and stylish look, we believe this will be a popular variant for pickup buyers in Malaysia,” said Christopher Tan, director of sales and marketing at ETCM.
No mechanical changes here, with the 2.5 litre turbodiesel engine continuing to output 190 PS and 450 Nm of torque. The mill is paired with a seven-speed automatic transmission and a four-wheel drive system with on-the-fly mode switching.
The company also kicked off the second round of its year end campaign, where customers who purchase a Nissan vehicle stand a chance to win a Star Wars: The Last Jedi themed holiday trip to Croatia.
Along with the ‘Take Home a Nissan and Take on the Galaxy’ contest, rebates and savings of up to RM8,000 are also being offered on selected Nissan models, along with the continuation of the RM1 promotion for premium accessory packages.

NISSAN NAVARA NP300 BLACK EDITION

Nissan Navara N-Sport Black Edition for Australia

Nissan Australia has introduced a special edition of the Navara called the N-Sport Black Edition, which is limited to just 500 units. Available for the range-topping ST-X Dual Cab 4×4 variant, the pick-up truck is fitted with an assortment of accessories that outnumbers that on the similarly-named Thailand version.
On the exterior, there is a new sports bar and bull bar finished in black, the latter with a LED light bar. Elsewhere, there is a gloss black honeycomb grille, smoked fog lamps and a black soft tonneau cover.
The Navara N-Sport Black Edition also comes fitted with 18-inch black alloy wheels that are housed within the new black fender flares. Rounding off the list of add-ons are N-Sport badging and a sprinkling of ‘Black Edition’ decals.
Customers will get to choose from four exterior body colours – Cosmic Black, Slate Grey, Brilliant Silver and Diamond White. “Black is all the rage at the moment and certainly makes the Nissan Navara ST-X Dual Cab stand out. With its aggressive but stylish look, and limited numbers, we think this will be a popular variant for ute buyers,” said Richard Emery, managing director of Nissan Australia.
Under the bonnet is a 2.3 litre intercooled twin-turbo diesel engine that outputs 188 hp and 450Nm of torque. Prices start at AU$54,490 (RM184,092) for a six-speed manual version, and AU$56,990 (RM192,514) for the seven-speed automatic.NISSAN KOTA KINABALU ,NISSAN SABAH ,NISSAN KOTA KIANABALU SHOWROOM

NP300 NAVARA SUV

SPYSHOT: Nissan NP300 Navara versi SUV diuji

Nissan-Navara-SUV-spyshots-02
