The new 2020 Nissan Almera has just been launched in Thailand, featuring a much better overall design, impressive safety kit, as well as a new 1.0 litre turbocharged three-cylinder DOHC engine that makes 100 hp and 152 Nm of torque. Just as a comparison, the new Honda City‘s 1.0L unit is more powerful, at 122 PS and 173 Nm.
In terms of styling, the new B-segment sedan is significantly more dynamic looking than the model it replaces. It wears the automaker’s signature V-Motion face, with looks that are largely inspired by larger Nissan sedans, such as the Altima and the new Sylphy/Sentra.
The interior also gets a big overhaul, with a new “Gliding Wing” dashboard that’s lifted from the Nissan Kicks. There’s a slick-looking part-digital instrument panel (seven-inch digital tacho and multi-info display, analogue speedo), an eight-inch touchscreen head unit with Apple CarPlay and synthetic leather front-facing dash panel with contrasting colour and stitching.
Lastly, safety. Depending on the variant, the Almera gets equipped with Vehicle Dynamic Control (VDC), Hill Start Assist (HSA), Intelligent Forward Collision Warning, Intelligent Emergency Braking (AEB), Intelligent Around View Monitor (360-degree bird’s eye view) with Moving Object Detection, blind spot warning and Rear Cross Traffic Alert (RCTA). It’s available in six colours and there are some cosmetic and utility options as usual. So, like what you see, folks?
